For Australian residents: If you need to apply for a Police check you can follow this link to download an application form. Scroll down and choose ‘Application form for National Police Check’  Form Note: As a MIA volunteer we require only a National Name Check . When you reach the Purpose of Check choose Option 1 - Contact with Children (MIA do not have a CVF number as it is not legislative to do so and also this would require more administration work for you and us, as Sandie would physically need to sign each application).

For USA Residents: Go to your local police department where you reside or last resided in the United States, request that the police conduct a criminal records search and provide you with a document reflecting that there is no history of a criminal record. Local police departments may require your personal appearance in order to conduct the search. Your local police department can phrase this in whatever way they deem appropriate. The document should then be authenticated for use abroad following our guidance on authentication or legalization of documents .

We here at Mission In Action aim to offer you are friendly family environment,
and the opportunity to experience he joy of making a difference in a child’s life.

We are a Christian family dedicated to this ministry of service to those less fortunate around us. 
Mission in Action is a substance abuse free area.

Rules and Guidelines:

NO – Smoking, Alcohol, Dugs or Abusive Language will be allowed while in the presence of children or staff on or off the premises.
We ask if you choose to go out to town at night time that you return to the compound before 9pm or the guards
will not let you back in. This is for the safety of the family and our children and other volunteers at MIA.

NO form of abuse will be tolerated.
Please note management has the right to ask any volunteer to leave if the rules are not abided by.

Duties include:

Whatever you are rostered on for. It all depends on what we have going on at the time you are here.
You could be in the laundry, kitchen, helping with kids, garden, school etc...

Fees:

$250 AUD per week.  This amount covers your accommodation, Laundry, Electricity and Water only.
Food is at your own cost. You have cooking facilities in your accommodation.

Additional expenses:

All traveling expenses to and from Nairobi airport are to be met by the volunteer.

We recommend that you do not arrive into Nairobi on a Friday or a Saturday as it is chaos and maybe difficult to arrange a pick up for you.
